Environmental Awareness
December 19th, 2008Starwest Botanicals recoginzes the impact that agriculture has on a global scale, and supports environmental awareness within their product line and company policies. As an avid supporter of sustainable agriculture Starwest strives to offer a diverse number of organic herbs, organic bulk spices and fair trade teas to individuals in search of quality alternative resources for organic bulk herbs and spices, fair trade teas and organic products. As a Certified Organic Processor, Starwest Botanicals, Inc. makes every effort to select ingredients from natural renewable sources, and to conduct business in a way that allows us to maintain our standard of environmental dedication, such as using recycled paper, packaging material, and non-toxic inks.
We also support United Plant Savers, a nonprofit education corporation dedicated to preserving native medicinal plants.
Starwest’s Fair Trade Certified teas are certified by TransFair USA, an independent non-profit organization which monitors and certifies Fair Trade products in the U.S. Fair Trade raises income and living standards for tea farmers overseas, while helping to protect the environment by prohibiting harmful chemicals in support of sustainable farming methods that are healthy for the farmers and their produce.Today, with all of our efforts, small farms that could not competitively compete with large factory farms will be able to continue finding a well-paid niche in the agricultural market by growing organic foods and herbs.
