Valerian Root

Latin Names:
WildCrafted: Valeriana wallichii.
Organic and European: Valeriana officinalis

Our Valerian Root, which comes from the hardy perennial Valeriana officinalis plant, is grown to organic standards by our United States growers. It is also found growing in Europe, Asia and Japan. Valerian Root is also commonly known as Wild Valerian, German Valerian or English Valerian, and comes in several different forms, which include cut and sifted, powdered as well as wild crafted varieties. Wildcrafted Valerian Root is also referred to by its Latin name Valeriana wallichii.

Both the Valeriana officinalis and Valeriana wallichii that we use in our dried herb preparations is certified kosher and organic. Organic certification is granted by Quality Assurance International, according to United States Department of Agriculture and National Organic Program guidelines. Starwest Botanicals, a leading supplier of bulk dried herbs, assures the quality of each dried herb product we sell through rigorous laboratory testing. This testing includes botanical identification, tests for appearance, color, aroma and flavor, as well as physical, chemical and microbiological analyses in order to bring you the highest quality dried bulk herbs on the market today.

Nervine verb, relaxant, helps to reduce pain.

Rating:
I use this herb in a combination with other Nervine herbs to help calm my nervous system, like Scullcap, Passion flower, Chamomile and catnip. I skip the caps, it increases the cost, I sense how much to put on a spoon, normally plus or minus a half small eating spoon; take it in the morning and before bed, so I can sleep.

I partly fill my mouth with water, before placing it in my mouth, via a spoon, whirl and swallow.
