Description:A traditional Hawaiian table salt used to season & preserve foods. Alaea is non-processed & rich in trace minerals, all found in the sea water. A small amount of red Hawaiian clay (Alaea) enriches the salt with iron-oxide, seals in the moisture & adds flavor. Alaea is great for roasting or grilling meat, great for spice blends and rubs, and is a traditional and authentic seasoning for native Hawaiian dishes such as Hawaiian Jerk & Poke. Traditionally, Hawaiians used Alaea salt in ceremonies to cleanse or purify, and in healing rituals for medicinal purposes.
