Organic Salad Blend Sprouting Seeds

Our Organic Sprouting Seeds in our Salad Blend are grown in accordance with the National Organic Program and Certified Organic by Quality Assurance International (QAI). All of the seeds in this blend are fast growing plants and if you were to examine it after only a week’s time, you would already notice the green leaves starting. Even at this early stage, these sprouts provide the full flavor of the fully grown adult vegetables. This delectable combination is just the right blend of mildly delicious flavors. It has a mild radish tang, with the sweet flavor of mung bean and red clover, along with the delicious alfalfa taste.

Starwest Certified Organic and Kosher Certified Sprouting Seeds provide a fresh, natural way to supplement one’s diet, and are an easy and convenient way to get the nutrients one’s body needs. Any of our flavorful Sprouting Seeds can be used in a variety of recipes, including stir-fry, salads, sandwiches and soups.

Reasons to grow your own sprouts

  • Nutrition: Sprouts are baby vegetables in their prime. They have a greater concentration of nutrients including proteins, vitamins and minerals, and enzymes. Contains more protein than lettuce and spinach. Radish is a very good source of protein, vitamins A, B6, and C, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc. Mung Beans are a high source of protein, fiber, antioxidants, phytonutrients, manganese, potassium, magnesium, folate, copper, zinc and various B vitamins. They are also a very filling food, high in protein, resistant starch and dietary fiber. Alfalfa sprouts are rich in vitamins C, B6, riboflavin, folate, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, protein, thiamin, pantothenic acid, calcium, and iron. Alfalfa sprouts have a high antioxidant capacity and are high in phytoestrogens. Red Clover is rich in vitamins A, B, C, E, & K, and in minerals and trace elements.
  • Freshness: Eaten when picked. No loss of nutrients sitting on the produce shelf. Great fresh, flavors!
  • Variety: You can grow more varieties of salad greens than are available in the supermarket .Your salads will come alive with flavor!
  • Digestibility: As baby plants, their delicate cell walls easily release elemental nutrients. Abundant enzymes make them easier to digest.
  • Space & Time: It’s Easy! Just add water! No soil. No bugs. No green thumb required. No special lights. One pound grows in only 9 inches of space.
  • Economics: Seeds can multiply many times their weight and you can save money by growing your own rather than buying the grown sprouts. Instead of 1 head of lettuce, you get 1,000's of micro-lettuce leaves. You can have a delicious 100% Organic Salad 52 weeks a year for only pennies per pound!

1 tbsp (approximately .45 oz) of dry seeds yields 3-4 cups of sprouts.

Directions:

Soak 4 to 8 hours – Place 1 - 2 tbsp of seeds in a wide mouth jar. Cover with screen and secure with a rubber band. Add water, swirl, and drain. Refill jar with water. Soak seeds 4 - 8 hours. Drain water well and invert jar at an angle in a sink or a bowl.

Rinse twice a day – Rinse seeds by refilling jar with water and gently swirling. Drain well and invert jar.

Rating:
The salad blend is delicious added to other salad greens or eaten by themselves. I prefer organic greens, and in small towns in Montana it is difficult to find them at the local market, thus I sprout my own to carry me thru the winter months. I start fresh seeds every other day to keep fresh greens available daily. I recommend this item to anyone interested I having your own little garden available winter and any time throughout the year..
