Starwest Botanicals offers a few different types of Coconut Oil: Organic Virgin, Organic Refined, and Refined from the Pacific Islands.

Virgin Organic Coconut Oil

Our Organic Coconut Oil is expeller pressed from the organic fruit of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). It is not refined, bleached or deodorized, thus retains the distinct flavor and odor of coconut. Both refined and unrefined coconut oil are rich in antioxidants and contain the same amount of the beneficial lauric fatty-acid containing antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties. However, the unrefined oil is richer in phytonutrients than refined coconut oil.

Choose unrefined coconut oil if you desire the fullest coconut flavor and the most phytonutrients. Pure coconut oil also makes a luscious and soothing massage and body oil or lotion for dry skin. It is also ideal as a medium heat cooking oil and a healthy substitute for shortening in baking- a "better-than-butter" replacement. It's delicious in baked good recipes, and they will have a lightness that you just can't get with butter.


Refined Organic Coconut Oil

Our Organic Coconut Oil is expeller pressed from the organic fruit of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). It is refined, bleached and deodorized, thus removing much of its distinctive odor and flavor, leaving a mild coconut flavor. Both refined and unrefined coconut oil are rich in antioxidants and contain the same amount of the beneficial lauric fatty-acid containing antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.

You should choose Refined Organic Coconut Oil when cooking at medium high temperatures, and it is a notable substitute for butter, shortening, or other vegetable oils in baked good recipes, or where the flavor of coconut is not desired.

Refined Coconut Oil is also well suited for use as a carrier oil for skin products, and is often used in the soapmaking industry because it is resistant to rancidity.


Refined Pacific Islands Coconut Oil

Our Pacific Islands Coconut Oil is expeller pressed from the fruit of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). It is refined, bleached and deodorized, thus removing much of its distinctive odor and flavor, leaving a very mild coconut flavor. Refined Coconut Oil P.I. is well suited for use as a carrier oil for skin products, and is often used in the soapmaking industry because it is resistant to rancidity.


Directions: Store in a cool, dry place, and avoid direct sunlight and heat.

Warning:

FOR VIRGIN COCONUT OIL: Contains Tree Nuts (Coconut). Because this oil is virgin and not refined, the nut protein may not be removed from the oil that can cause the tree nut allergy.
